Huawei 5G network data espionage scandal reignites

Robert O’Brien, the National Security Advisor of White House has made direct allegations on Huawei on Tuesday alleging that the Chinese supplier of 5G equipment has left backdoors in its equipment supply allowing the Chinese government to sneak into the network flow anytime for espionage.

O’Brien added in its statement that Huawei has been offering such covert abilities in its network hardware for a decade or so and that prompted US President Donald Trump to impose a ban on the use of such equipment in the IT infrastructure of public and private entities operating in its region.

On the other hand, Huawei has denied all these allegations as it has done in the past and added in its statement that like all other hardware operators, it has also allowed its developers to build ‘lawful intercepts’ that will prompt the law enforcement agencies such as FBI to sneak into the data of individuals and companies on court orders.

But Mr. Robert has denied all these claims made by the Chinese vendor and alleged that the company does offer backdoors which can act as spying tools for the Chinese government.

Already the United States has long convinced its allies such as Germany, Japan, Australia, and Canada in imposing a ban on the usage of Huawei products in their regions on a respective note.

But the UK government led by Boris Johnson has shrugged off the alerts and went on with the permission of allowing Huawei to build the 5G network in the region.

Geng Shuang, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry condemned the allegations and said that some leaders of developed nations were trying to plant false allegations on his company to damage the repute Huawei’s on the international circuit.

He also quoted the words stated by NSA Whistleblower Edward Snowden in 2013-who then stated that the United States was indulging in cyber stealing tactics on foreign governments, enterprises, and individuals since 2009.
