Mobile Security became worse during the lock-down initiated by COVID-19 across the world says Verizon. The conclusion was made after analyzing the fact that businesses compromised on its security tools to support remote working practices to keep the business continuity intact. But this trend backfired against few companies as many of their infrastructure was compromised as hackers exploited vulnerable points exposed by the workforce working remotely.
As per the survey, over 49% of businesses switched to remote working practices during lock down adversely affecting the company’s Cybersecurity infrastructure as they failed to follow the basic cyber security hygiene because of reasons.
What’s interesting about this study is that half of the respondents who reported as stated above recognized that mobile devices acted as biggest IT security threat. Still, they sacrificed the security of mobile devices in order to get the job done.
Verizon Business Mobile Security Index (MSI) 2021 stated that the effect of Pandemic will last for the next couple of years, pushing most of the workforce to work remotely. And if companies cannot take up basic strategies to secure their infrastructure, then they are on the verge of facing catastrophic cyber disasters that could break their business on a permanent note.
Many of the respondents who took part in the survey believe that only large-scale companies are on the verge of getting affected by cyber incidents. But this notion is completely wrong says Verizon as even the SMBs can take a direct hit depending on the way they are practicing cyber hygiene in their premises, respectively.
So, keeping backups of the data on a regular note, educating the employees about the threats lurking in the cyber landscape, disallowing them from clicking on email or SMS links and deploying threat monitoring solutions that issue alerts at required intervals that help keep the cyber threats at bay from corporate networks say experts.
