Microsoft has issued a serious alert against Follina Vulnerability and claims to have released a fix and is urging users to upgrade it on a quicker note. The flaw seems to be critical, as it can give a chance to hackers access personal data from a device.
Follina is a kind of remote code execution susceptibility arising from Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool (MSDT) arising from a URL Protocol while calling an application such as an Office word. Hackers are seen exploiting this vulnerability to run arbitrary code and can alter, change, view or delete information from the application, along with the procedure, to create new accounts.
Users using Windows 7 and 8 OS and using Office tools that are obsolete like MS Office 2005 and such have to be cautious about the new alert. And the only thing they can do is to keep their systems up to date with the latest available updates. All systems that will get automatic updates need not worry. But those who need a manual upgrade should keep their systems up to date.
In other news related to Microsoft Defender, as digital footprints are growing in individual households, protection of personal information and devices is becoming a herculean task for many. So, to keep security on par with the threats, users are seen using different security products on devices, thus making it hard for device owners to safeguard their digital assets from hackers.
Microsoft Defender that the enterprises have been leveraging on is now being offered to individual users for endpoint technology solutions. It acts as a comprehensive security tool and acts as an extra layer of protection to already in-built Windows Security.
Defender thus starts acting as a centralized dashboard platform that keeps a tab of the antivirus solutions and keeps all OS platforms like iOS, Android and MacOS devices protected from malware. It offers security alerts, strategies and expert tips to users in real-time and acts as a wholesome protection platform against all threats lurking in the cyber landscape.
