Cyber Attack on Succession Wealth and NHS Staff Data Leaked

Succession Wealth, a financial wealth management service offering company, has released a press statement that a cyber attack targeted its servers and it can only reveal details after the investigation gets concluded.

Prima Facie revealed that hackers accessed no client data in the attack. However, a confirmation on this note can only be given after a detailed inquiry gets concluded.

FYI, the company was acquired by Aviva Insurance in the year 2022 and has over 19 offices across UK and is estimated to be £10 billion worth in assets.

Coming to the other news, Liverpool NHS employee details were leaked to outsiders via email and are confirmed to have taken place through a human error. The details of over 14,000 employees were sent to 100s of NHS Managers and 24 external accounts creating a possibility of identity thefts and social engineering attacks such as phishing.

Cybersecurity Insiders learnt that the attack leaked sensitive details of employees, such as names, designation, salary, ethnicity, DOBs and Insurance numbers harvested into a spreadsheet and did not include back account details or personal contact information.

James Summer, the Chief Executive officer at the trust, sent a personal email to all 24 outsiders to delete the email containing details on an immediate note.

In the year 2022, Verizon conducted a study and compiled a report on data security in which it confirmed that human errors lead to 13% of data breaches across the world. It could be an accidental leak or willful leak made by disgruntled employees.
