Donald Trump interview with Elon Musk disrupted by DDoS Cyber Attack

An eagerly awaited interview between Twitter CEO Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump faced a brief interruption due to a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack targeting the servers of the social media platform.

Musk issued a formal statement confirming that the interview, originally scheduled for 8 PM on Monday, was delayed by approximately 30 minutes due to this cyber attack, which appeared to be a denial-of-service incident.

The delay caused the interview, intended to be streamed to 8 million Twitter users, to reach only 1.5 million. The broadcast eventually concluded within two hours, much shorter than anticipated.

Speculation among Musk’s supporters on Telegram suggests the attack might have been orchestrated by state-sponsored hackers, while some users on the platform believe it could have been the work of Republican party supporters aiming to generate buzz and media coverage. This comes as Trump, who is seeking reelection as the 60th President of the United States, has shown a willingness to leverage his wealth and political influence.

Technical experts also propose that the surge of Trump and Musk enthusiasts attempting to log in simultaneously may have contributed to network congestion, further delaying the interview.

Key points from the interview included Trump’s upcoming return to Butler, Pennsylvania—a location where he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt in July—and his controversial plans for a massive deportation campaign and the construction of a comprehensive security dome across the U.S. to counter both cyber and physical threats from adversaries.

Notably, this interview marks a return for Trump to the platform after being banned in January 2021 for inciting the bomb threats and Capitol Riots . The platform’s management has since changed, with Musk now the sole owner of Twitter, which has been rebranded as X.

Additionally, at the same time, few services related to Google like Maps and Cloud were also temporarily down for an hour or so..
