According to the intelligence gathered from Avast Threat Detection Database, one in five home PCs operating across the world are vulnerable to cyber threats. The Global Risk Report 2019 which uncovers the digital threats luring on home and business PCs has stressed on the fact that home users of Win 7,8 and 10 Personal computers have a 20% chance to expose to PC threats in any given month.
Countries like Afghanistan, Iran, and China have topped the list as the nations where home PC users are most at risk; while Pakistan, China and Vietnam are the list toppers where businesses are more likely to encounter a cyber threat.
What surprises us in the Avast Global PC Risk Report 2019 is a special mention of the fact that Windows 10 home users- which Microsoft touts as the most secure OS of the decade, are most likely to encounter an ‘advanced attack’ where hackers induce into the computers Trojans, malware and other malicious codes by bypassing the usual computer protection technologies such as security software and firewalls.
Avast Security report says that the safest windows version happens to be Windows Vista, due to global Windows Vista Usage being down to around 2 percent making it non-profitable to hackers.
Coming to the Home PC users in the United States, Avast says that over 14% of PC users are a risk of facing an infection, with 3.7% at risk of falling prey to an advanced attack.
Avast claims that the following home PC users are at risk of encountering any type of threat and those are-
• Afghanistan-38.73%
• Iran- 37.49%
• China- 37.27%
• Ethiopia-35.7%
