Password 123456 was hacked over 23 million times worldwide

National Cyber Security Center(NCSC) said that one in two people are falling prey to cyber attacks in the United Kingdom and that’s due to the fact that they are failing to meet the standards of basic cyber hygiene.

So, the NCSC has issued an official warning to Britons to stop using easily guessed passwords as it is wide opening them to internet frauds.
A survey conducted by NCSC claims that one in every two people are habituated to use easy passwords like ‘123456’ or ‘Password’ which will make them most-susceptible to money stealing cyber attacks by 2021.

The survey conducted by the spying agency linked onto GCHQ says that the password ‘123456’ was hacked over 23 million times worldwide and ‘123456789’ was hacked for over 8 million times. Another password which was hacked for more than 5 million times happens to be ‘qwerty’ and ‘111111’.

Passwords created with names were reported to be hacked over 1m times and that includes names such as Ashley, Micheal, Jessica, Daniel, and Charlie. When it comes to names of football teams being used as passwords, ‘Liverpool’ happens to have fallen victim to computer crooks for more than million times last year.

Dr. Ian Levy, the Technical Director of NCSC is urging all online users in Briton as well as the globe to strengthen their log-ins so that it can make their devices less vulnerable to cyber attacks.

“Using a password which is a mix of alphabets and numbers along with some special characters in the middle will make complete sense as it gives online consumers complete control over their personal security posture”, says Levy.

Margot James, the digital minister of UK has also warned the populace of Briton that cyber attacks have the potential to offer financial and emotional heartache to victims.
