A ransomware hack on a Taiwan-based Technology Company dubbed Quanta Computer is said to have leaked technically product Blueprints related to Apple Inc. Those spreading REvil aka Sodinokibi said that data will be published online if the victim company fails to bow down to the demands of their hackers.
To strengthen their claims that they are indeed in possession of the true data REvil ransomware spreading gang posted 21 screen shots showing MacBook Schematics and are demanding $50 million in return of the decryption key and the stolen data.
As Quanta Computer Inc serves many companies like Blackberry, Sharp Corp, Lenovo Group, Sony Group, Siemens, Sun Microsystems, Toshiba Corp, Verizon Wireless, Vizio Inc, Amazon, Dell, HP, Alienware, Cisco Systems and Fujitsu, along with LG, Maxdata and Microsoft corporation, it’s suspected that the said ransomware spreading gang could possess the data related to the said companies as well.
Few hours ago, REvil ransomware gang issued an update that its team is busy negotiating the stolen confidential drawings and Gigabytes of information with a multinational company and if all goes well, it will not hesitate to sell the data by May 1st, 2021.
Neither Apple nor Quanta has acknowledged the incident, but have launched a probe respectively on the issue.
And the highlight in this incident is that the REvil ransomware gang has contacted Apple Inc on a direct note to negotiate the ransom amount and is reported to have submitted some evidence to substantiate its claims.
