Cyber threat is increasing to Connected Cars

Demand for Connected Cars is slowly increasing in western countries. But because of the explosion of digitization, the automobile sector is also being exposed to malicious cyber threats. For instance, a few days ago, Police Officials from Europe took into custody about 31 suspects for allegedly involving in the scheme of stealing connected cars.

Information is out that the hackers targeted cars from two french connected car manufacturing companies by using a tool developed to actually diagnose senor related operational issues in connected cars, but was actually been used to replace genuine software with the fraudulent tool that led to opening of doors and start ignition in the targeted vehicles.

In simple terms, connected cars have the ability to talk with each other on road to avoid collisions that might lead to fatal accidents. To a certain extent, automated cars can also be synonymously called as a connected vehicle as they function by talking with other cars and objects on road and operate without any human intervention….to a major extent of course!

Nowadays, governments and car owners are showing a lot of interest in adopting a technology that is green and innovative. So, in coming years, cars operating on batteries and working on electricity will be on much demand. Then the technology might slowly by steadily shift towards connected cars or semi-autonomous vehicles leading to a trend of rise in cyber threats.

Hence, manufactures of autonomous vehicles should keep the technology and safety on the same page and work for innovations that answer all negative questions related to smart transportation.

However, it is not that easy to bring or witness a change in any field and depends on the increased demand for automotive solutions that are threat free.

Remember, the need for such vehicles will lead to a rise in demand and that, in fact, leads to an innovation that gradually improves with time and investment.
