Russian Cyber Threat forces the UK to sign digital security Pact

Russian Cyber Threat has forced the United Kingdom to sign world’s largest digital security pact worth £15 million. The digital agreement is expected to include leaders from 53 nations to sign the world’s largest cyber declaration which assures to join forces to combat criminals and hostile actors engaged in cyber warfare.

As the cyber threat from Russia seems to be growing at an alarming rate, Theresa May feels that the digital agreement will help the UK strengthen its digital defenses to combat attacks of any range.

After the US launched Airstrikes on Syria, Russian state-sponsored hackers have pledged to retaliate with cyber attacks on the critical infrastructure of few western countries by early next month.

United States FBI and NSA in association with Britain’s GCHQ issued an alert at the end of last week, that a state-sponsored attack could target its critical infrastructure which could result in a national calamity.

To combat the cyber warfare of such range, Theresa May along with the leaders of Commonwealth nations have signed a pact to work collectively and take action against the emerging cyber threats. The financial package is said to help members signing the pact to review their cybersecurity capability and deliver the stability and resilience to stay safe online.

Note- An “Intelligence Partners” meeting is due to be held on Wednesday which will see Theresa May talking to Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, New Zealand’s Minister Jacinda Ardern and Canada’s prime leader Justin Trudeau along with a representative from White House of United States.
