Know how Google, Microsoft, and Facebook protect user data from Cyber Attacks

Cyber landscape has evolved a lot in recent years and so are the hackers who are always on the prowl to exploit even the slightest vulnerability. Amid these concerns is the cyber threat coming from state actors who threaten to conduct espionage on critical and sensitive government data.

Therefore, it has become critical for the tech companies to implement top of the line measures to keep their user data safe and secure from hackers.

Keeping aside others, Facebook, Google, and Amazon have officially disclosed that they save their consumer and critical data within massive data centers on a global note and take appropriate measures to isolate the IT infrastructure from global scale cyber attacks.

Microsoft has gone a step ahead on this note by choosing to deploy shipping-container sized data centers on the seafloor near Scotland’s Orkney Islands. This is to help the sea line populace connect to the web in a secure and efficient way. The tech giant has also announced recently that the concept of distributed data centers is a hit in security perspective as the servers operating in the containers connected to the world wide web only through a single and highly secure server which monitors and also filters content as per the customized security themes.

Google has also gone a step ahead on this note by building customized servers exclusively for its data centers, and never commercializing the design of them on an external note. So, in case of a cyber attack or fire accident or any other disruption, Google shifts the data access automatically and seamlessly to another data center geographically separated so that the user doesn’t experience any kind of data disruption.

Moreover, most of the critical data, or frequently accessed data is backed up to servers on an automated note and the hardware engineers in almost all the above-specified tech firms keep an eye on the location and status of each drive operating in their server farms. This helps them to weed out the non-operation ones before its too late.

As data center security demands maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data, protection of the data center networks require greater flexibility and modernization to keep up the pace with the increasingly intelligent hackers.

Facebook, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft have succeeded in doing so to a large extent. However, more innovation in the said field is required to stay proactive say experts.
