Texas-based data center named CyrusOne is in news for all wrong reasons. The collocation services provider is said to have suffered a Ransomware attack disrupting its services across the world.
Currently, the Dallas based peering services provider is working with the law enforcement agency and a third party Cybersecurity provider to investigate the attack and is terms to recover its data as soon as possible from encryption.
A source from the technology-based website ZDNET leaked out the info that CyrusOne data center was infected by REvil Ransomware which is also known with the name Sodinokibi ransomware. It’s the same family of file encryption malware which hit several data centers in June and also several Texas government agencies in early August this year- including the 400 dental care organizations across the United States.
After going for a detailed probe CyrusOne is going to make an official statement on the incident. Several of its clients were informed about the attack early today and it was then that some media outlets received info of the malware attack on CyrusOne.
Note- CyrusOne was found in 2001 and was a real estate firm that invests in data centers and several server farms. As of Oct 2017, the company is said to own more than 45 data centers across United States, London, and Singapore. Coming to the customer list, CyrusOne is said to have more than 1,000 customers including enterprises, network operators, cloud providers, and support services companies.
