To compete with some renowned smart phones brands such as Samsung, Apple and Google Pixel, BlackBerry has announced that it will re-enter the market by launching 5G enabled smart phones that will be available on a commercial note from Feb 2021.
To full fill its vision, the technology giant ended its contract with TCL recently and offered the manufacturing license to a Texas based company named OnwardMobility.
OnwardMobility is planning to release a 5G enabled smart phone by early 2021 that will have a new physical keyboard design and will be incepted with the mobile security of government grade.
FYI, BlackBerry was the first firm to launch a phone that was specifically devised to write and send emails via mobile internet. Some noted Politicians in US that include Former President Barack Obama and the 2016 Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton used it.
On August 31st this year, the 4 year long contract of BlackBerry will end with the Chinese firm TCL that is basically into manufacturing of Televisions. And from then the licensing of the smart phone manufacturing will be taken over by the OnwardMobility.
“As Corporate professionals are eager to have a 5G phone that will enable productivity with utmost security, BlackBerry will be aiming to target those customers with its devices that will be offered with utmost privacy and data security”, Peter Franklin, the CEO on OnwardMobility.
Initially, the product planning and market development will be targeted towards customers from North America and Europe and then to the rest of the world added Mr. Franklin.
Note- Businesswise, BlackBerry is now into Canadian Enterprise Software Company that also offers Internet of Things (IoT). Earlier it was originally known as Research in Motion (RIM) firm that manufactured smart phones and tablets.
