All iPhone and Android mobile users are hereby informed that the two tech giants have coordinated with each other to warn their respective users as soon as they have come in contact with a COVID 19 patient. And as per the details available to our Cybersecurity Insiders, the notifications will only be sent only to users living in areas, where the local public health officials have been authorized to activate ‘Exposure Notification Express’.
Maryland, Nevada, Virginia and Washington DC are some places where the service will be rolled out by this month end. And in countries like UK and Canada the timescale for the service rollout is yet to be fixed.
In May 2020, Google and Apple have partnered to roll out a specialized Corona Virus tracking app framework for their respective users as a part of track and trace protocol launched by the government on May 21st of this year.
Reports are in that the service will be rolled out to all iOS users and to those using an Android 8 version and above- as this piece of information is yet to be confirmed by the authorities. By default the authorizing system will be switched OFF and will only function only when the user uses the service.
Now, to those who activate the system, their Bluetooth will always stay on for the phones to communicate. And when a person gets diagnosed with China Virus, a PIN is encoded into the phone that will send an alert to all the mobile phone users who came into the proximity of that infected patient within a stipulated time frame.
Alphabet’s business subsidiary and Apple Inc have made it official that their new framework will work in all phones and works with the already downloaded corona and other health tracking apps.
Note 1- All data privacy concerns need to be put to rest if the users’ of both technologies keep themselves safe from the dreaded corona virus.
Note 2- the two American Tech giants have disclosed no detail about the data being captured and stored on their servers.
