NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The Katz School of Science and Health at Yeshiva University has launched an online Master of Science (MS) in Cybersecurity that is set to begin classes in January 2021.
Built in the cybersecurity industry hub of New York and taught by a practitioner faculty of experts and innovators, the online MS in Cybersecurity program delivers real-world experience in one of today’s most vital fields. It is designed to prepare students with the technical expertise and decision-making skills to lead as key defenders on the frontlines of today’s digital conflicts.
“The city of New York, its dynamic corporate culture, and its vibrant and rapidly evolving cybersecurity industry inform everything we teach in our cybersecurity program,” said Dr. Paul Russo, vice provost and dean of the Katz School. “We’re delighted to offer this new, high-quality online route to our dynamic education for those outside the bounds of our traditional geographic footprint.”
All aspects of the online MS in Cybersecurity program have been carefully curated to prepare students to make an impact in the field. The Katz online MS curriculum places equal weight on both technical and leadership skills to equip students with the knowledge and decisive mindset required to protect sensitive corporate data or safeguard national security from the ever-growing threat of cyber attacks.
The program also helps students earn some of the most desirable credentials available in the field of cybersecurity. Students will be prepared to sit for the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification exam after the program’s first course, and they will graduate with knowledge that can support them as they pursue additional certifications later in their careers.
“Our mission at Katz is not simply to train successful cybersecurity professionals,” said Dr. Russo. “We produce leaders who will thrive at major organizations and shape innovation in the field for years to come.”
The program comprises 10 courses and can be completed in as few as 20 months. The entire program is delivered 100 percent online, and students have the option of completing an internship under the supervision of a staff member at a company of their choice and a faculty advisor. Courses are taught by an expert faculty of industry veterans comprising security leaders and executives at top-20 global banks; Certified Ethical Hackers, Certified Fraud Examiners and Certified Information Systems Auditors; and former military intelligence officers.
The online MS in Cybersecurity program is being built in partnership with Everspring, a leading designer of engaging online and hybrid educational programs. It is the third Everspring-supported online program at Yeshiva University, following the Wurzweiler School of Social Work’s online Master of Social Work, which launched in 2018, and the Cardozo School of Law’s online LL.M. in Intellectual Property, which debuted earlier this year.
“Cybersecurity is at the forefront of employer needs, nationwide, and is an essential subject to deliver effectively online,” said Beth Hollenberg, president of Everspring. “We’re thrilled to partner with Katz to offer such a standout degree in the field, and to offer a seamless, engaging online learning experience. Everspring takes great pride in helping create that opportunity.”
Applications to the online MS in Cybersecurity program are now being accepted for the spring 2021 term, which starts January 19. Visit online.yu.edu/katz for more information about the program.
