Britain has finally saved the healthcare sector from cyber attacks by pledging £500,000. The funding will help those playing a key role in containing the COVID 19 pandemic spread to remain resilient.
Therefore, the funding can be utilized by medical suppliers and primary care providers to cover all their consultancy and certification costs associated with the measures to be taken to mitigate cyber threats existing in the current cyber landscape.
Matt Warman, the Digital Infrastructure Minister of UK made the funding official at the London Tech Week and added that the Cybersecurity initiative was been taken to bolster the healthcare business that is struggling to thwart cyber attacks coming from individuals and adversaries.
Mr. Warman is also urging all organizations to sign up for the Cyber Essentials Program put forward by the government that will educate firms in bolstering their Cybersecurity essentials, eventually paving way for a healthy environment on a digital note.
As the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) the cyber arm of GCHQ has identified a heightened cyber threat from adversaries to healthcare sector, the cyber essential certification program will help companies train themselves to keep their devices safe from hackers. Also, it will help companies on how to properly use firewall to secure devices on a network and how to customize the controls of users based on their designation in the work environments.
Note- In May this year, NCSC in association with US CISA issued a warning to companies operating in the west against a large scale password spraying campaign to be launched on the healthcare and medical research field- to steal critical info related to Corona Virus related vaccine research.
