Google MFA and its security deal with Crowdstrike

On the occasion of World Password Day on May 6th, 2021, Google announced it intends to roll out 2 step verification (2SV) to all its users in coming days to strengthen the trust of its users for mobile security.

Therefore, to all the users whose accounts have been properly configured, the 2SV feature will be activated by default. And this will allow them to simply tap on a Google prompt on their phone whenever they sign-in.

Precisely , whenever a user tries to sign-in with a username and password, they also need to tap on the Google app prompt sent to their phone while on a 3G/4G connection. Hence, it gives Google service users an added advantage of going for a secure authentication experience than the passwords alone.

The internet juggernaut is planning to integrate advanced security features into its authentication algorithms by 2022. For instance, the business subsidiary of Alphabet Inc is planning to launch a Google Smart Lock app for iOS users in order to allow the Apple Inc’s users use their devices for secondary authentication.

In other news connected to Google Security, the web search giant has announced that it is going to extend its partnership to CrowdStrike in coming weeks. And this is to help customers managing hybrid cloud environments better manage security with advanced tools.

As a part of this agreement, CrowdStrike will integrate its Falcon Endpoint Protection Platform into Google Cloud Chronicle Security Analytics platform. Its security command center (SCC) along with its VirusTotal Enterprise Crowdsourced malware collection platform with work in sync with Chronicle that will allow security teams to get a better visibility of cyber threats prevailing across cloud and hybrid deployments.
