To help customers recover from data incidents, Google, the internet giant, has introduced cloud backup and Disaster Recovery (DR) feature from its console to all its customers directly from its console. Thus, those using Google cloud storage platform as a repository, directory, and application database can now avail the DR services as an effective backup solution across multiple workloads.
The internet juggernaut released a press statement on this note and stated that users can avail crash consistent backups for virtual machines on various compute engines such Vmware engines, on-premises SAP, SQL and MySQL Databases.
To those looking for a long-term backup storage, Google Cloud Backup and DR Store can also prove as a cost-effective solution as it can be used as an efficient backup engine that has the feature of incremental forever storage tech.
Now, to those who aren’t aware of a storage solution with an “Incremental Forever” backup solution, here’s a gist. Google Cloud Backup and DR take an initial backup and then stores changes that take place after the initial backup. In this way, it not only reduces network bandwidth and storage space, but can also offer users a cut down in overall storage consumption costs.
The American tech giant reiterated in its press statement that its cloud backup and DR solution is secure enough as an end-to-end encryption backs it up and is scalable and cost effective.
From customers’ POV, they need to pay for only the resources they use and can be integrated with the in-house data protection services.
