In recent news, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, has introduced an app called “Thread,” which closely resembles Twitter in terms of features and functionality. The app is now available for free download on the Google Play Store, offering users a similar experience to what the Musk-led company provides.
According to a report from reputable news source Reuters, Twitter, under the leadership of Elon Musk, intends to take legal action against four Texas-based companies for engaging in data scraping of its tweets since June of this year. In response to this issue, Twitter recently announced restrictions on tweet views for regular users, temporarily increasing the viewing limit for premium users before subsequently revoking it at the end of last week.
It has come to light that Twitter is planning to sue Meta for publishing scraped content on its Thread platform, citing a violation of basic business ethics. Furthermore, as Meta attempted to poach Twitter’s internal talent in an effort to gain access to company secrets and intellectual property, Twitter is reportedly preparing an anti-competitive lawsuit, which is expected to be filed by the end of this month.
Starting from July 13, 2023, Twitter has made the decision to block tweets containing links to the Thread app. Analysts in the industry predict that the competition between these two companies will intensify in the coming weeks, as Musk plans to initiate a lawsuit against the operational practices of Meta’s new subsidiary, alleging that their business actions were inappropriately mirroring Twitter’s strategic approach.
