A Cyber Attack has leaked data of thousands of members belonging to Sheffield’s Credit Union and it includes details such as names, telephone numbers, addresses, savings balances, loan amounts, national insurance numbers, bank sort codes and account numbers.
Sources reporting to Cybersecurity Insiders say that the data breach could have exposed information of more than 15,000 members. And fraudsters could target the victims with text messages or fraudulent calls via cold calling.
Authorities of Sheffield Credit Union have reported the incident to South Yorkshire Police and Action Fraud.
The organization stressed in its statement that money has not been accessed and has assured that it will reassess its IT security again and will take all necessary steps to protect against future events of this nature.

The staff of Sheffield Credit Union has advised the members to monitor their bank accounts for any kind of credit frauds.
Note- The cyber incident is said to have taken place on February 18th,2018. But came to light now. Reason to issue a public statement on this issue lately i.e after 3 months is yet to be known.
Note – Sheffield Credit Union is a non-profit organization that provides loans and savings to people across South Yorkshire.
