Bitglass Rising: 2018 Recap

This post was originally published here by Will Houcheime.

Now that 2018 is in the books, we at Bitglass wanted to take the time to reflect on some of the biggest moments of this past year. Each team within the company had some great accomplishments that helped us reach new heights. We feel that every department was critical for our success in 2018 and for our status as a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Cloud Access Security Brokers (CASBs). While everything is a team effort and our various departments are constantly collaborating, read on to learn what our teams accomplished over the last year!

We’d like to start off by saying that the success of our company would not be possible without the support of our incredible customers. Thanks to you, we are able to grow year after year and build innovative technologies that protect data wherever it goes. We look forward to another year of your support here at Bitglass.

The Engineering teams worked tirelessly to ensure that our product was running smoothly – continuously – over the course of 2018. Consequently, our agentless CASB remains the easiest to deploy and use. The results of our demonstration to Gartner for 2018’s Magic Quadrant demonstrates the meticulous work that the team performed this past year. They executed to refine the look and feel of items such as our Zero-day Shadow IT Discovery reports. Finally, Bitglass was also able to reach SOC2 compliance, demonstrating our responsibility as a company and our trustworthiness when it comes to securing and handling sensitive information.

Product Management was proud of the continued success and innovation of our contextual access control, data loss prevention (DLP), and advanced threat protection (ATP). Bitglass’ technologies can secure any app or workload, including software as a service (SaaS)  apps, infrastructure as a service (IaaS) platforms, and custom applications. The PM team also developed cloud security posture management (CSPM) functionality, whereby the Bitglass CASB can scan IaaS instances (like AWSAzure, or GCP) for misconfigurations and remediate as needed.

Throughout 2018, the Sales team underwent a rapid global expansion and introduced Bitglass into countless new markets around the world. This resulted in record sales growth as well as partnerships with distinguished brands like Hitachi. The Sales team was also able to launch our Customer Advisory Board, which provides customers with an in-depth understanding of the Bitglass CASB, and provides us with the opportunity to incorporate their feedback into our processes and product roadmap.

Thanks to the efforts of the Marketing team in 2018, Bitglass was able to expand its global footprint with over 160 channel partners, as well as a plethora of trade shows, speaking sessions, webinars, and more. We produced original research reports such as Malware P.I.Mission Impossible: Securing BYODFinancial World: Breach Kingdom, as well as global and EMEA-specific cloud adoption reports. Bitglass was labeled the Top Tech Company to Watch by the Wall Street Journal and earned recognition as a SINET 16 Innovator.

As we look back, each team made significant contributions that helped Bitglass to continue its success as a leader in the CASB space. With 2019 upon us, we look forward to seeing what our departments will do over the coming months. Like every year since its founding, Bitglass will continue to thrive and evolve, bringing security and peace of mind to enterprises around the globe.
