DHS cyber arm CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) has issued some safety standards to keep the teleworkers safe from Cyber Attacks during the ongoing COVID 19 crisis and those are as follows-
All devices on network and VPNs should be updated with the latest software and security configurations. Otherwise, vulnerabilities in such networks used by teleworkers can be targeted by cybercriminals.
Better to create awareness among employees against Phishing attacks and see that they never click on links lurking in phishing emails as it can make the entire network infected by malware such as ransomware.
Using a threat monitoring solution that helps in keeping a tab of logs, detects attacks and offers response and recovery is mandatory for companies offering its employees the privilege of working from home.
Deploying Multi-Factor authentication on VPN connections makes complete sense. Also, make sure that the authentication procedure is done through strong passwords.
Furthermore, during the Corona Virus crisis, networks will automatically go through a lot of strain like congestion. So, network admins should ensure that their VPNs can handle mass usage.
At the same time better to contact CISA for any phishing, malware and other cybersecurity-related concerns.
NOTE- CISA is a Federal Agency of United States established in Nov’18 under the regime of Donald Trump. The agency aims to improve the government’s Cybersecurity protections against state-funded actors and individuals.
