Microsoft acquires CyberX for $180 million

Microsoft has made it official that it has acquired Israeli startup CyberX for an undisclosed amount. But trade analysts suggest that the deal might have fetched the Cybersecurity firm anything between $150m to $180m- a great deal to relish.

Technically speaking, CyberX offers technology to defend critical infrastructure and industrial processes from cyber attacks and Microsoft is planning to integrate the technology into its business-related Industrial Cybersecurity to minimize cyber risks on IoT technologies used in the manufacturing field. Also, the Redmond giant might intend to integrate the technology with its Azure IoT Stack, Azure Security Center for IoT, and Azure Sentinel platforms for their first Security Information and Event Management having Internet of Things (IoT) support.

Going into history, CyberX is a 2013 startup that offers greater visibility into industrial IoT networks to identify vulnerabilities and respond in real-time via machine learning skills. Its clientele list includes companies from the power sector, gas sector, water, and pharmaceutical sector.

The year 2020 has been a great year for Microsoft when it comes to acquisitions as trade analysts suggest that the software giant might have invested around $650 million in acquisitions. Some of the noted ones include the purchase of a UK based Robotics Process Automation firm, a data modeling firm named ADMR Software, and acquisition of Softmotive, Metaswitch Networks, and Affirmed Networks.

In 2019 Microsoft reportedly acquired the following list of companies- Mover, Semmle, jClarity, PromoteIQ, BlueTalon, Pull Panda, Double Fine Productions, Drawbridge, Dependabot, Express Logic, Data Sense, and Citus Data.
