Ntrepid Awarded Patent for Method to Transmit Network Traffic with a Proxy Device

HERNDON, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Ntrepid LLC today announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted the company U.S. Patent No. 10,637,831, which concerns the transmission of network traffic through a connection originated by a proxy device.

Traditional techniques for linking devices on a network would not allow a user to connect to a proxy unless the proxy maintained a fixed—and therefore identifiable—IP address. With Ntrepid’s new patent, the proxy device may not be addressable. In this manner, Ntrepid’s invention ensures the user’s authentic identity remains hidden from the target—a crucial capability for operations where users require anonymity.

“For our national security community customers, identity protection and obfuscation throughout every phase of online communication is essential,” said Teddy Lindsey, Chief Technology Officer at Ntrepid. “This patent affirms our ability to produce technologies that can facilitate misattributed networking and uphold advanced cyber missions.”

Demonstrating the company’s commitment to investments in research and development, the proxy device apparatus joins Ntrepid’s expanding patent portfolio as the 11th patent the company has received since its establishment. Earlier Ntrepid patents have included methods for creating secure network connections between devices and a system for protecting users in online environments using unique identity-masking elements.
