Small and medium-size companies are being targeted by Iranian Cyber Attacks says a report published by ‘The Marker’ on Sunday. Highly placed sources say that the attacks are being targeted mostly on supply chain companies such as VERITAS Logistics Company and on Match Retail, a representative of H&M Israeli division.
Cybersecurity Insiders has learnt that hackers stole over 110 Gigabytes of data from Match Retail and over 9 GB of data from VERITAS firm and are threatening to publish it online if their demands aren’t taken seriously.
Security analysts state that the attack seems of ransomware genre as a hacking group dubbed Networm (linked to Iran Pay2Key) is reportedly found demanding 1000’s of dollars to stop it from publishing the data online to further embarrass the company leaders on international stream.
The interesting part of this hacking drama is that the hackers are trying their best in concealing their identity by pretending as Russian attackers.
Note 1- In the first week of April, Iranian Home Ministry has claimed that its nuclear power plants enriched with Uranium were being constantly targeted by cyber criminals. And the one which hit the news headlines was Natanz Nuclear site.
Note 2- To the surprise of our readers Networm is the same malware that led to the shutdown of Iran’s Shahid Rajaee Port because of a foreign invasion and was a retaliation step of Israel as the former breached into the water facility of the latter to lace the water supplied to the populace with poison- that remained unsuccessful.
