Apple has announced that it is planning to release a fleet of autonomous cars by the year 2025 and will make them run only on electric power. Thus, with the announcement, the tech giant has clarified that it will compete with the likes of Tesla, GM, Ford in producing driverless cars that need no human intervention at all.
Trade analysts, however, say that Apple’s aim of producing self driving cars might need a lot of time for development as a lot of technicalities have to be sorted out to offer fully fledged autonomous vehicles like Tesla.
Apple Inc’s wants to come up with the latest and so is aiming to offer a fleet of self driving vehicles that are quick to charge, offer more mileage on single charge, and can take smart decisions to avoid collisions and later disputes.
The highlight of the iPhone giant’s offering will be it’s in-car infotainment that will stand as a benchmark to other automakers. Other key features will include a self driving system that cannot be hacked by bad guys because of its processor enabled multi-layer fool-proof tech that can be shipped in the 1st generation of cars itself.
Sources inform the Cupertino based company is in touch with some climate system experts from Volvo & Daimler Trucks, battery systems from MG, and senior engineers from General Motors to keep safety of its autonomous vehicle passengers at priority.
Recent job listings on LinkedIn from Apple include an advertisement that proposes job vacancies for software and AI engineers who can design and develop innovation for the in-car interface.
Hope, all the tech lives up to the expectation and can in compliance with the rules planned by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)- an organization with which Elon Musk led Tesla messed with on a recent note.
