Hellmann ransomware attack and Volvo Cyber Attack

Hellman, the German Logistics provider, has announced at the end of last week that some of its servers were acting weirdly, forcing them to shut them down systems to contain the incident.

As of now, the office staff isn’t sure what type of data was accessed, stolen, or illegally used after the attack. They also assured that they will reveal more details about the attack in near future, as a third party investigation is still underway.

Hellmann’s Global Crisis Taskforce is also busy analyzing the incident and has taken an opinion of another security company’s ransomware experts.

Founded in 1871, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics SE & Co KG is a company that is headquartered in Osnabruck, Germany and offers logistics services through air, rail and road. It is also into philanthropic activities and has long tied up with UNICEF to offer money and free education to poor kids across the world.

With a head count of over 10,700 employees, the company is spread across 56 branches to offer CEP Services, Contract Logistics and industry solutions.

Note– A ransomware attack is a kind of malware attack where hackers infiltrate a database and lock down data access until a ransom is paid.

In another incident, Swedish luxury car maker Volvo has made it official that a recent cyber attack on one of its repositories in Gothenburg could have exposed research and development secrets to hackers.

A security expert was hired to investigate the extent of impact on the company and assured that the hackers did not get access to customer data in any form in the Volvo Cyber Attack.
