United Kingdom has decided to combat its cyber adversaries with a £250 Million Cyber Force. The Theresa May led country has disclosed that the cyber force will help combat terrorist groups and criminal gangs apart from the Cyber Threats emerging from countries like Russia, China, and Iran.
Britain’s Cyber Force includes experts from military services and will also include white hat hackers from different cyber firms. The aim of the joint cyber force will be to defend the nation against the cyber adversaries and to launch remote cyber attacks to disrupt and destroy computer networks of enemy nations.
However, a reliable source from The Times reports that tensions are rising as both GCHQ and the Ministry of Defense are trying hard to command the newly set up cyber unit. While GCHQ wants the cyber force to focus on combating online crime and domestic terror threats. The Military wants the force to combat with sophistication like handling counter missile programs which might never be used.
Gavin Williamson, the Defense Secretary of UK said that the actual objective of creating the cyber force with a huge fund was to thwart cyber threats from Russia and other countries like China, Iraq, and Syria. However, Mr. Williamson added to his statement that the cyber force will also target ISIS online activities, malware spreading gangs, people & child traffickers and pedophile rings.
Note- Britain’s Cyber Force will be a separate unit from GCHQ and NCSC and might be headquartered in either RAF Wyton in Cambridgeshire or MOD Corsham in Wiltshire.
