Gartner just released its 2018 Magic Quadrant for Cloud Access Security Brokers, wherein Bitglass was recognized as a Leader in the CASB space. Like last year, companies were evaluated based on completeness of vision as well as the ability to execute. We believe that our positioning is due to all of our growth over the past twelve months, the world’s best customers, and an incredible amount of hard work from our employees around the globe.
Bitglass has always led the cloud access security broker space and pushed cloud security technology to new heights. When the industry was in its nascent stages, most CASBs were focused on providing a combination of shadow IT discovery (for identifying unmanaged applications used in the enterprise), and out-of-band, API-based protections (for data at rest in the cloud). Bitglass, however, recognized that the future rested with real-time, in-line protections and, consequently, built unique, robust proxy technology.
Time and again, Bitglass has exhibited this desire to think forward and innovate ahead of the curve. The company’s technology partnership with Cylance has imbued the Next-Gen CASB with the ability to detect and respond to zero-day malware in real time – as files are uploaded to apps, downloaded to devices, or at rest within the cloud. With Zero-day Shadow IT Discovery, Bitglass leverages machine learning to detect and scrutinize new applications on the fly, foregoing the traditional, reactive route that required static lists of predefined apps. Bitglass can also render unmanaged applications read only, secure IaaS platforms, enable BYOD through agentless mobile security, provide full strength encryption that preserves search and sort, and much more.
These advanced technologies have attracted customers who lead in industries like healthcare, education, and even financial services, enabling Bitglass to build its global channel and develop a presence not just in the Americas, but in EMEA and APAC, as well. In addition to being named a Leader in the 2018 Magic Quadrant for CASBs by Gartner, Bitglass has been recognized as a SINET 16 Innovator by SINET and as the number one tech company to watch by The Wall Street Journal. It has truly been a whirlwind year for us.
According to Google, a leader is defined as “An organization or company that is the most advanced or successful in a particular area.” At Bitglass, we just try to listen to our customers and further develop our innovative technologies so that we can protect data against evolving threats. Our focus has always been on helping organizations and, consequently, employees, customers, families, and communities to flourish. We don’t exist as a company just to get a fancy title; but, if staying true to our mission is what it means to be a leader, then we will gladly accept the designation.
