US Federal Bureau of Intelligence (FBI) has issued a nationwide alert that a digital threat from China is due to take place early next year. Testifying before the Senate, Christopher Wray the FBI Director confirmed the news and added that ISIS and domestic terrorist groups have become busy these days by recruiting sympathizers via social media and the internet; all to doom North America in near future.
Sympathizing with them is a group of threat actors from China who is either busy radicalizing those visiting the US to carry out a cyberattack or brain-washing them to disrupt critical infrastructure in their region.
So, what is America doing to contain such threats?
Wray said that the FBI has already taken measures to neutralize such attacks by establishing a Domestic Terrorism –Hate Crimes Fusion Cell.
Highlighting the activities taken up by Chinese hackers, data stolen is said to be proving as a prime motive behind most of the attacks launched by bad actors from China. Also, students coming from the nation like university scholars can pose a threat to the entire nation and so all are being watched by the FBI 24/7.
The law enforcement agency claims that it has evidence that Chinese hackers have succeeded in stealing more than 1,000 technology-related secrets from US companies so far and it says that it will present the evidence before the nation when the right time comes.
FBI has approved that all company acquisitions, especially by Chinese firms, are being monitored- all for the sake of National Security. It also endorsed media speculations that more than 100,000 Chinese students are on their tracking radar- just to ensure that the adversary is not abusing its Thousand Talent Program by sending students to other nations to ‘spy’ on national secrets.
