Twitter Hack 2020 culprit arrested in Spain

Twitter Cyber Attack 2020, that witnessed the breach of over 130 celebrity accounts in July last year, has witnessed a development recently. A 23-year-old British man named Joseph O’Connor, well known online with the name as ‘PlugWalkJoe’ was arrested by the Spanish National Police early this week.

Joseph who hails from Liverpool is suspected to be the culprit of the July 2020 Hack of Twitter where over 130 twitter accounts including that of the Kanye West, Bill Gates, Joe Biden, Barack Obama and Tesla Chief Elon Musk were hacked to propagate a fake cryptocurrency earning scheme.

US Justice Department issued a warrant to the Police of Spain last month to arrest O’Connor as he is confirmed to be the mastermind behind the unauthorized server access, extortion, and cyber stalking of Twitter and its users.

Although Joseph denied all these allegations earlier, he is now accused and proved guilty of swindling more than $180,000 out of innocent victims in the process.

Note– Early this year, another guy named Graham Ivan Clark, 18, and accomplice of Joseph O’Connor was also arrested and sentenced under the Florida’s Youthful Offender Act. He was also termed to be the mastermind behind the July 2020 Twitter Hack where the internet systems of Twitter were fraudulently accessed through a well-coordinated spear-phishing attack breaching accounts of several company owners and celebrities to propel a ‘Bit-Con’ hack worldwide that promised double the amount of invested cryptocurrency in Bitcoins.
