Amazon Detective launched to detect Cloud Security Anomalies

Amazon Web Services shortly dubbed as AWS has launched a security tool named Amazon Detective to visualize anomalies on cloud security measures taken up by customers. This smart tool will be using Machine Learning skills backed by Artificial Intelligence to put an end to the woes of teams investigating cloud security blunders.

Technically Amazon Detective will be collecting huge amounts of data from AWS logs and will combine with AI technology to initiate a statistical filled analytical graphical theory that will help security teams investigate potential security incidents.

AWS has released a media update that it’s Amazon Detective will be using data from AWS Guard Duty, AWS Cloud Trial, and Virtual Private Cloud Flow Logs to process data and will then summarize on how available resources are behaving and interacting with each other.

All these days, network administrators had the pain to dig out the root cause of an alert which was in fact time-consuming. As they need to sieve through huge data sets and monitor the situation and then analyze the information by putting it in the dashboard- to monitor the behavior of resources and track down unexpected API calls, traffic spikes and such.

But with Amazon Detective, the work becomes simple and quick and will be in lines with the AWS Security Hub which just helps track down security problems to alert users.

Furthermore, the Detective’s tool gets a consistent and continuous update from AWS resources and has the potential to aggregate data for up to a year- to avoid any real security threat from any false positive.

The service will prove extremely beneficial to those who spread data and resources to those over several AWS accounts.
