Box, a Cloud Content Management and file-sharing company, has announced that it has added automated malware detection capabilities to its Cloud Security controls which help in protecting stored content in the cloud.
Dubbed as Box Shield, the service sets a new benchmark to protect content by neutralizing malicious files as soon as they are identified as cyber threats. Thus, it allows the end-user, to restrict downloads and blocks them from sharing the files with their peers.
“As an average cost of attack has reached $2.6 million, malware is being touted as the costliest security incident facing businesses”, said Jeetu Patel, Chief Product Officer, Box. He added that his Box Shield offers the end-user the privilege of previewing the content without getting compromised.
Furthermore, tucked with AI capabilities Box Shield helps detect data leakages, and also helps in proactively detecting potential insider threats or compromised accounts added Mr. Patel.
Note- Founded in the year 2005 by Aaron Levie of the University of Southern California, this Redwood City-based company offers file sharing and collaboration of file uploads to servers. As of now, the company offers three types of accounts which are Enterprise, Business and Personal which can be used on Windows and Mac OSes. Proctor & Gamble, Schneider Electric, GE and IBM are few of the noted enterprise clients of Box.
As Box was being funded by Venture Capital, it raised over $520 million making itself eligible for IPO in January 2015.
