American DoD inks Cyber Threat Management deal with Google Cloud

Google Cloud has recently inked a deal with the Defense Department Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and so will be offering a cloud management platform as a part of the deal for the DoD to carry out Cyber Threat Management.

Although the contract value is being kept under wraps, a renowned news resource states that the deal was signed between the two parties for a 7-figure range.

Google issued a public statement on this, not yesterday saying that it is going to offer its Anthos Platform for the DIU to run all its applications and web services across three cloud service providers namely Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.

DIU can use the cloud console offered by Google to centrally manage the multi-cloud solution and customize it with real-time network monitoring, audit trails, and access control.

Google will be using NetSkope’s technology to render cloud security capabilities to DIU on Anthos- a hybrid cloud deployment platform and Istio to deliver secure communication.

Note 1- As Amazon boss, Jeff Bezos is not in the good books of US President Donald Trump, Google is said to have bagged the Pentagon’s JEDI Cloud contract without much pursuance.

Note 2- As per the stats available to Cybersecurity Insiders, Google Cloud stands third in the marketplace with only 8% share as Amazon Web Services (AWS) leads the pack with 33% and Microsoft as second with an 18% share and rest shared by others.
