Two of the biggest Cybersecurity conferences- Black Hat and DEF CON have been forced to go virtual due to the COVID 19 crisis. Factually speaking, the said 2 conferences were scheduled to be held in Las Vegas in Aug’2020 with Black Hat scheduled from Aug 1st to Aug 6th and Def CON from Aug 7th to Aug 9th.
But since the governments around the world have imposed a ban on public gatherings and meetings as a precautionary measure, the authorities holding the two conferences have decided to adopt a virtual conference format to help keep the attendees and speakers safe from Corona Virus spread.
News is out that both the conferences will take place on the scheduled date and time. But will be held in live stream for the paying attendees.
Jeff Moss, the Manager of DEF CON has confirmed that the conference will go virtual for this year and will take place in the usual form for August 5-8, 2021.Mr. Moss who is also the founder of the Black Hat conference is still unsure about the dates and the format of the conference to be held this year. But he is hopeful that more clarity will be defined in the format in the coming weeks.
Note 1- Founded in 1997, Black Hat Briefings aka Black Hat is a computer security conference that has been offering security consulting, training, and briefings to hackers, government executives, corporations and white hat hacking individuals participating from across the world
Note 2- DEF Con, on the other hand, is touted as the world’s largest and most notable hacker conventions scheduled to be held on an annual note in Las Vegas, Nevada. This annually held meeting is attended by individuals belonging to Computer security, journalists, lawyers, federal employees, security researchers, Cybersecurity company representatives, students, and ethical hackers who can speak and gain knowledge on varied of topics such as hardware modifications, conference badges, computer architecture, and software.
