GoDaddy suffers a Cyber Attack affecting 19 million customers

GoDaddy, a web hosting and domain registrar services provider has made it official that it became a victim of a cyber attack on October 19th,2019 which went undetected until April 27th,2020 when the IT staff noticed some disruptions in the operations of some of their servers.

Prima Facie revealed that attack was launched to steal web hosting account credentials which could have impacted more than 19 million customers.

FYI, GoDaddy is the only web domain registrar that has a database of more than 76.83 million domains.

In an email sent to the California Department of Justice in parallel to the customers of GoDaddy, Demetrius Comes the Vice President of Engineering, of GoDaddy, stated that the account details of customers connecting to Secure Shell(SSH) were fraudulently accessed by individual between Oct 2019 to April 2020.

Demetrius Comes who is also the CISO of GoDaddy revealed that his company has taken all precautionary measures to curb such attacks in the future and has assured the customers that their data was super-safe.

Additionally, the web domain services provider will also offer a one year of Website Security Deluxe and Express Malware Removal at zero cost. Furthermore, if any of the web domain users find any vulnerabilities or cyber threat alerts the company has assured that it will offer 24/7 security assistance to them.
