Cyber Attack on US Presidential Election 2020

No matter who wins the battle of US Presidential Election 2020- Donald Trump or Joe Biden, the US populace has a topic to rejoice. A senior official from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) gave a briefing to media that the election day( Nov 3, 2020) was indeed digitally invaded. But the proactive Cybersecurity measures kept in place led to no major disruption in the election process.

So, the nation seems to have cleared one of the biggest milestones of holding the electoral process in a peaceful and unbiased manner.

Although the federal officials were never affirmative in declaring the election as totally-clean, they did disclose that the 2020 election process was immensely successful with regards to casting of votes and validation of the results.

All thanks to the US Cyber Command, which definitively operates under the defense department and protects the nation from cyberattacks launched by adversary nations like Russia, Iranian, and other counterparts.

Historically speaking, the elections held in November 2016 was too controversial, as a probe conducted by Ex-President Obama in Dec’16 stated that the then results were influenced by the intervention of a foreign nation that eventually helped President Trump run his administration for 4 years thereafter.

In the past 3 years, the FBI in association with CISA and DHS tried its best in building new relationships in the cyber field by inculcating best practices to defend the critical infrastructure including election infra.
