Twitter has made it official that it has appointed Peiter Zatko, aka Mudge, as its head of security. And after a 40-60 day review, Mr. Zatko is going to report to Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey, making structural changes to the information and physical security of world’s number two social networking giant.
Mr. Zatko who worked for an electronic payment till last month will join Twitter’s technical team from Friday this week. As he also has an experience in a few of the Pentagon’s much prestigious DARPA projects, Twitter is said to use this think tank’s brain power to curb misinformation and abuse spread on its platform.
In July this year, Twitter faced a massive embarrassment when a section of high-profile twitter handles were hacked by cyber crooks to advertise a cryptocurrency scam. As it included some big names such as the 47th US President Joe Biden, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and Tesla Chief Elon Musk, Twitter seems to have taken upgrading its security on a serious note since then.
After appointing Rinki Sethi as its new CTO, Twitter appointed Zatko to find solutions to its multiple security problems.
Peiter Zatko plans to make some changes to the tweets monitoring algorithms changing the way people perceive the platform regarding filtering of posted content.
Note- Mudge is known as an open source programmer and a writer to the security world and has been an active member in L0pht and the Cult of Dead Cow.
