Work from home increases Cyber Threats on Enterprises

Cyber Threats have increased on enterprise networks and all thanks to the latest trend of work from home that is being practiced by most of the firms operating across the globe to prevent the spread of Corona Virus. And as per the research, most of those attacks or threats were targeted by cyber crooks launching email attacks with an intent to spread malware or eavesdropping.

Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) of UK conducted the survey and came to the above stated conclusion that shows how relaxed are businesses for cyber security.

The Annual Cyber Security Breaches Survey conducted by DCMS states that remote working is paving way to heightening cyber risks as employees are not aware of the threats lurking behind their corporate firewalls and thus are committing the mistake of practicing poor cyber hygiene while interacting with apps and data related to their company/s.

Email services are being used strategically by hackers to conduct email attacks by impersonating individuals or criminals to steal vital information like passwords. And sometimes cyber criminals are using email services to trick employees into making fraudulently large financial transfers via new business deals or contracts.

Seeking cyber insurance coverage, creating awareness among employees and protecting accounts with 2FA is the advice that is being given by the researchers of DCMS. The UK based digital governance body is also urging cyber security teams of corporate enterprises to educate their CEOs and CTOs that cyber security is an integral part of business resilience and needs administrative and financial attention equivalent to other segments of business.
