Cloudflare, a cloud security offering platform know to protect over 22 million websites around the world has announced that it is going to acquire Browser security startup S2 Systems from Kirkland, Washington for an undisclosed amount.
In general, the former is known as the world’s leading content delivery network management platform which not only increases the load-time of websites but also protects them against cyber threats such as Distributed Denial of Service attacks.
S2 Systems is known for its web browser security technology which helps redirect web browsing codes from the devices via the cloud. After the purchase by the Seattle based startup, the 9 employees will reportedly join the Engineering Center of Cloudflare by March’2020.
Trade analysts say that Cloudflare is purchasing the technology of S2 Systems to boost its under-development product named Gateway which will be revealed by mid this year by Cloudflare’s engineering team.
Note 1- S2 Systems CEO David Harnett was a former employee of Microsoft’s Marketing division and worked there for 15 years. Additionally, the co-founder of the company named Darren Remington was also a former employee of Microsoft who served the technology giant for 17 years in several roles.
Note 2- Thus, by establishing an office in Seattle, Cloudflare will be joining the home of cloud leaders led by technology giants such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Google and having a data center count of over 203 across the world.
Note 3- S2’s browser security technology is reported to help boost the technology of Gateway which will in-turn help users secure their browsers from malware and injection of malicious codes.
