US President Joe Biden has appointed Anne Neuberger as the new Cybersecurity chief for the National Security Council. Thus, the President made it clear with the new appointment that his administration will never take national security lightly, unlike the previous President Donald Trump, who scrapped the role of the Cybersecurity coordinator in 2018.
To those uninitiated, Anne Neuberger joined National Security Agency in 2010 and served as the agency’s director of Cybersecurity since 2019. She was supposed to bag the role as a deputy to National Security Adviser until the new President swapped her role.
Ms. Neuberger will play a vital role in re-visiting the Cybersecurity plans taken up by the federal government and will apparently dig the facts on the suspected Russian cyber espionage on the US Government agencies that came into light last month through FireEye over SolarWinds and Orion software.
From the past two weeks, many tech companies like Microsoft have issued a warning that the newly discovered hack of SolarWinds might prove more serious than what is been projected now.
Thus, Biden administration that will be led by Kamala Harris as Vice President is intending to give top priority to Cybersecurity and will focus on the measures to bolster the defense-line of private, public and academic sector, will renew the commitment for international norms and engagement in issues related to IT Infrastructure and will help the nation defend itself against malicious digital activity launched by adversary nations.
As it is now confirmed that Anne Neuberger will lead the national security, it can act as a welcome and a motivational sign for the women folk across the world who are intending to take up Cybersecurity as career.
