Vulnerability alert as Adobe Flash support ends from January 2021

All those who are using Adobe Flash you better make a note that the support for the adobe flash software has ended on the New Year’s eve and from January 2021 the company will no longer protect its users from cyber attacks.

In fact, the retirement of the Adobe flash software was announced in July 2017 and from then on the web developers have offered content with new options such as WebGL, WebAssembly and HTML5.

Historically, on two occasions the company’s software allowed hackers to compromise targets by distributing adware and ransomware. Apart from these two instances, 14 times the flash software was found allowing hackers to exploit the software through different vulnerabilities. And on an overall note, the software developers offered 293 fixes in the past 14 years of its successful operation.

Now, to those uninitiated about the operations covered by the software, here’s an update. Unless you are using the latest browser, all your flash driven content will be displayed by other means like many open formats. And to those who aren’t will see a blank page as the content could not be loaded.

Microsoft and Google have given a clarification on this issue by announcing that it’s going to stop adobe flash animation driven content on its Edge and Chrome browsers, respectively. For Apple Safari users of MacOS, flash has already being discontinued. And from January 12th,2020 the content will be blocked from running on flash.

Adobe AIR will be supported by the multimedia software offering company until Samsung acquired company Harman takes over the software and markets the product on its own.
