AI based website helps predict cyber attacks between nations

A website developed by researchers from Johns Hopkins University is said to help in predicting cyber attacks between nations.

Dubbed as Cyber Attack Predictive Index (CAPI) the Artificial Intelligence(AI) based web portal developed by CSC Professor Anton Dahbura says that there is a high possibility of Russian Cyber Attack on Ukraine in the next few days.

“The prediction is based on analysis of vast amounts of data related to past attacks and could help nations take adequate measures in thwarting digital incidents well in advance”, said Dahbura.

As the menace of cyber attacks grew exponentially in 2019, John Dahbura developed a website in association with Prof. Thompson, who had an experience in working with National Security Agency till 2012.

  • The methodology involved in prediction was simple, just to determine a nation based on the scale of 1-5.

  • The ability to launch cyber attacks

  • The motive behind the nation to launch attacks on other nation/s

  • How much fear does the nation have on an international arena over repercussions

  • And the success rate of the cyber attacks launched by the nation so far, along with the sophistication involved in launching cyber attacks by exploiting known vulnerabilities.

According to Cyber Attack Predictive Index(CAPI) over 12 nations have been on its radar and among them there is a high likelihood of India attacking china over border dispute, china against United States before US Polls 2020, Israel launching digital warfare against Iran and vice versa and Russia going against United States for its own motives.
