Norway faults Russia for cyber attack on Parliament

After launching a detailed investigation on the cyber attack launched on the email systems of Norway Parliament, the government has concluded that an apparent digital incident was launched by Russia.

Ine Eriksne Soreide, the foreign minister of Norway, called the attack as barbaric as it affected the democratic institution of the country on a severe note. He added that the Putin led nation was trying to plant discord by weakening trust of the populace over the political governance, election process, and media discord.

Mr. Soreide stated that his authorities were ready to share the investigated information with its international allies and will also seek justice from the UN council.

Meanwhile, Moscow has rejected the allegations and said that Noway was just indulging in provocative politics for its own means as it is a member of NATO and shares the Arctic border with Russia.

“We go through millions of cyber attacks aimed to disrupt our internet infrastructure and we never indiscriminately blame others until we are sure of the origin of the attack”, says Russian Embassy in Oslo.

Since August this year, the relationship between Norway and Russia deteriorated as the former expelled the Russian diplomat on the basis of spying, and the latter did so in retaliation a few days later.

Note- Russia is known for its Cyberwarfare such as denial of service attacks, malware insemination, distribution of fake news, state sponsored attacks on federal agencies to steal data or spy on the attributes, internet surveillance and influencing state elections to create political discord in several countries like France, Australia, Germany, Georgia, Poland, South Korea, Ukraine, Estonia, UK and USA along with Norway.
