Twitter Data Breach 2020, that was deeply investigated by the forensic experts on a recent note, has revealed that cyber criminals hacked the social networking site by duping the employees working from home with a fake login page.
As per the details available to Cybersecurity Insiders, most of the employees were directed to work remotely due to the spread of corona virus. And they were supposed to login into their company network via a secured VPN.
Cyber crooks somehow got hold of this and called a few of the employees and asked them to enter their credentials onto a fake VPN page. It’s revealed that the employees then entered the details into the original VPN page to get the hold of the network from where they hacked the accounts of some prominent personalities like Joe Biden, Elon Musk, Satya Nadella, Jeff Bezos and such to post content related to crypto currency scam.
The said Twitter Hack happened in July this year and in August it was revealed that the cyber crooks conned few twitter users to fraudulently collect $118,000 in Bitcoins.
A source from Daily Mail reported that the hack was committed by a teenage group holding the name “OG Accounts”.
Twitter CEO admitted in July that a small set of the company employees were targeted in the hack and assured that the company has taken enough measures to curb such incidents in the future.
Note- The message posted on the hacked Twitter accounts in July 2020 was as follows-
