A group of researchers from the University of Arkansas has devised a plan to use the technology of Artificial Intelligence to shield Power Companies from Cyber Attacks. And the US Department of Energy has awarded a $2.7 million funding to the team of researchers led by Qinghua Li to encourage their objectives.
Mr. Li, who is an associate professor of Computer Science and Computer Engineering along with his team, developed an AI tool dubbed AVIRA to defend the digital infrastructure of energy companies.
In general, hackers are seen exploiting vulnerabilities to infiltrate networks and companies need to install patches to prevent such issues. So, network admins must prioritize patch installations to see that they are installed promptly.
AVIRA that stands for Automated Vulnerability Intelligence and Risk Assessment is a software tool that prevents cyber crooks from infiltrating networks via vulnerabilities by automating the process of cyber risk identification. So, employees detecting threats can spend very less time analyzing the risk and put more focus on mitigating high-risk vulnerabilities.
Li says that the newly developed AI-based AVIRA tool will cut down the need for more resources by automating much of the data collection and analysis as possible.
“Thus, AVIRA will help energy companies to gain instant insights into impending risks from software vulnerabilities and will provide them with the much desirable info to secure their servers”, said Phil Clark, Director of Corporate Security, Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation.
